Moshe Gluck of M. Gluck design
There are many reasons people open their own business. Sometimes it’s because they want to be their own boss. Sometimes it’s because it’s a tough job market, and a talent manifests itself that turns from a hobby to a business. Moshe Gluck of M. Gluck designs had that experience when he was starting out. After a stint selling watches a friend suggested he get into design since his innate good eye was often in demand by friends and family who needed design advice.
Moshe wanted to work for a design company, but none of his leads worked out. “So, I went out on my own,” he says, laughing. “And it was a great decision!” He advises young people who want to go out there to assess their natural talents and then get some experience in a field that utilizes them, even if it’s at low or no pay. “The best way to learn is practical experience!”
A look at the projects he’s done reveals a great design sense, and an ability to maximize space, even when there are tight constraints. His very creative ceiling design cleverly gives a feeling of sauce even in spaces with low 9-foot ceilings. Moshe’s calm personality and can-do attitude makes him the right person to not only design but execute the installation of all design elements. “I take the headache, so you don’t have to.” he explains. He’s done projects as small as just a lighting plan and large as large wedding halls and brings his signature attention to detail and out-of-the-box solutions and creativity to every project. He specializes in custom pieces such as one-of-a-kind lighting fixtures and aronei kodesh.
Moshe attends about ten trade shows a year, and there’s a logical reason that he does so. He loves attending shows like OJBA since there’s so much to see and learn. “There’s so much going on. You get to see what’s new out there. It’s an amazing way to learn the newest trends. Sometimes I have an idea, but am not sure how to execute it, but I go to a show and there in front of me is the way to make it happen!”
